The school’s strength in working with International partners has been recognised by the British Council. In 2001 and again in 2005 the school was proud to receive ‘The International School Award’. International Learning and Research Centre
The school has close links with the International Learning and Research Centre (ILRC) based at the Sir Bernard Lovell Language College. All the staff at Longwell Green are affiliated researchers and are currently working on a range of projects connected with language learning, personalised learning and the continuity of learning as children move from Primary into Secondary education.
Bath Spa University
Longwell Green has a close association with the University’s Department of Education. Each year we host a number of trainee teachers as they work towards qualified teacher status. Currently (2006) six of our staff are working towards accreditation for a Master degree through school research based activities. 2005 saw all the school staff involved in a series of research projects into the quality of children’s writing. This has been nationally acknowledged as a work of significance. The academic year 2006-07 will see more action research based on the theme of problem solving in mathematics.
