Year 5 Miss May

Along with our class teachers in Year 5 we have the support of Mrs English, our teaching assistant and also Mr Farr who teaches us RE and PHSE. We are also part of the 'roundabout' system when Year 5 and 6 teachers teach their specialisms (Art, ICT, Music, Games). We have PE on Wednesday and Friday, in the summer term any children who cannot swim 25m also go swimming. We are very busy in Year 5. In September we have a Farm visit, in October Wessex Water come to visit us, also in October we gp to Bristol Hippodrome to see the ballet, in November we go to Willsbridge Mill and in the summer we visit the Victorian School at Sevington.

Year Five and Six Corridor Challenge

This term, year five and six have been set a ‘corridor cleaning challenge’. The task is to keep each class coat peg area as tidy as possible throughout the day. In year six this also includes the shoes and slippers. Each class has elected slipper and cloakroom monitors who have been working hard to organise and tidy these areas on behalf of their classmates.

Throughout the day the ‘corridor fairy’ journeys along the corridors and marks each class out of ten for their tidiness. So far the standard has been very high and the results are incredibly close. At the end of the term the winners will be announced and awarded their class prize. This term the prize will be a whole class cinema experience (film yet to be decided) in the school hall including popcorn and comfortable chairs!!!

We have been really impressed with how the children have risen to this challenge and it has certainly helped to keep our corridors a tidy and safe place. Thank you and well done to year five and six. Keep up the hard work!

During ICT week, the children had experience of making their own advertising leaflets for Willsbridge Mill. The children had visited the Mill earlier in the term. The leaflets were of a very high standard. What do you think?
