Quality Nearly New Sale on Saturday 26th April 12:00 – 1:30 at Longwell Green School
How the Quality Nearly New Sale works
This is not a car boot or a tabletop sale!
Our aim is to help you find a new home for your good quality second hand items of – Nursery equipment and everything for babies and young children.
The sale runs with volunteers selling your products.
A 25% commission on the sold items will be given to the LGPTA.
A single item sold over £60.00 will pay no more than £15.00 in commission to LGPTA.
You will be given a sellers number and this will be on every item you sell including the amount you want for the item. You will attach this before the day.
You can sell up to 50 items of which 10 can be clothes (We have to stick to this due to space)
Everything will be put in groups in the hall, i.e. all pushchairs together, all toys, nursery equipment etc. There is space outside for garden toys also.
At the end of the sale your monies will be calculated and handed to you along with any unsold items.

Help us to make you money
To help your items sell, think about how you present them
- Please ensure the item is clean and not broken.
- If you have a toy with lots of parts and you don’t have the box, try using a shoebox (most shoe shops will be happy to give them away) cling film over the top to secure parts and enable the seller to see what is inside.
- Items to small for a shoebox could be placed in small clear food bags, sold in rolls. (Carrier bags unless clear generally get ignored by buyers)
- Buyers like to know battery operated toys work, Asda sell Smart price batteries at a very reasonable price.
- If selling clothes put as many on hangers as possible so we can display on rails. (Asda are happy to give away hangers at the George desk)
- If you are not staying at the sale ensure someone knows how to collapse any pushchair / travel cot / highchair etc (it can make or brake your sale).
Previous Events
June 23rd 2007 was the date of our annual Summer Fayre.
As usual the day itself was a culmination of many months of preparation aimed at putting on a fun packed day for everyone.
Leading up to the Fayre we held a competition for the pupils to design the cover for this years Summer Fayre programme – which is very well supported ( and very much appreciated) by the local businesses within the area. Having sifted through the large number of entries received – a difficult decision ensued on how to pick a winner – eventually an entry from a Year 5 pupil was selected.
A mufti day was held a couple of weeks before the Fayre whereby pupils could have a non-uniform day by way of making a “gift donation” to go on the tombola stall.
The day before the Fayre we were asked to donate cakes for the cake stall – either bought or homemade.
With the summer having been very wet and any form of sunshine at a premium, we were naturally disappointed to be setting up with a fine drizzle in the air. However to our surprise and delight at around 11.30 the clouds parted and the sun shone brightly for the rest of the day.
The Fayre was opened by the 37th Kingswood Drum & Bugle Corp and was followed by a performance by KS2 pupils who performed to an African piece of music.
The stalls were many and varied, tombolas, white Elephant, Books & Videos along with well stocked plant and cake stalls. For the more active visitors their was a Ferris wheel along with a variety of inflatable and bouncy castle activities. This was supplemented by the ever popular crockery smashing, coconut shy, beat the goalie, splat the rat and our unique “Wall and orange games”. If that wasn’t enough there was an opportunity to ride the unrideable horse, show off skittle skills or even indulge in a pig race or two. If refreshments were required Strawberries & Cream, Hot Dogs and succulent burgers were available along with an opportunity to rest one’s legs whilst enjoying a much sought after cuppa or two. The playground was also home to a local Fire Engine and Police Cars during the day – an ever popular attraction for the children.
Finally with all stalls all but exhausted of supplies the day drew to an end with the Grand Prize Draw winners being announced and In car DVD’s, DVD player, DAB Radio’s and a host of other prizes were presented to the lucky winners. After tidying up we all went home and started planning for the 28th June 2008!
The Quality Nearly New Sale -
Saturday 27th April 2007
From a nervous start came a great day. The sale takings came to almost £4000.00.
The hall was full to bursting with an amazing range of nursery equipment and children’s toys; the side car park was chokka with every type of pushchair you could imagine.
The doors opened and a tide of people came in. New mums, Grandparents, nurseries, child minders and families.
We sold 8 double pushchairs from £10 up to £60.
Ride on toys, push along, swings and slides even a Little Tyke play slide system.
The puzzles, videos and games where stacked so high it was hard to see over the top but very few where left at the end.
A large number of kitchens and workbenches made there way to the door and off to new homes.
From nursery, highchairs, booster seats, cot beds, baths and Moses baskets even a wooden swinging crib and changing table went off to family and grandparents homes.
Not forgetting the small items rattles, any type of building brick, trains and dolls.
That’s just the small amount I can remember selling.
In short if your loft is bursting or your garage needs a spring clean we could help each other.
Fill your wallet/purse and help Longwell Green School at the same time.

FESTIVE FAYRE - 25th November 2006
Saturday 25th November our school was transformed in to a Christmas wonderland for our annual Festive Fayre. Although this has been the first Festive Fayre in two years due to the new building work and the extension to our school hall. All visitors were greeted with a smile and had an opportunity to browse our school hall at the wonderful collection of stalls and games. For adults you could have a look at the collection of trade and craft stalls. You could wrap up warm with a fluffy scarf or brighten up your home with a festive plant. While the children could race singing snowmen or hook a parcel from “Santa’s Express” and there was always a selection of tombolla stalls to have a go on. There were a variety of activities for all ages and best of all for younger children there was the magical Santa’s Grotto. While you waited you could watch cartoons and then you would go into see Santa and come out with a present. You could get crafty at our Elves Workshop making angels, Christmas trees and crackers and our now ever popular Yule Logs. Everyone was able to sit back and relax with a nice cup of tea or coffee with a piece of delicious home made cake in our refreshments area.
