Foundation Stage Reception Children at Blaise Castle
We are very proud of all of our Foundation Stage children for the way they all behaved so well on their first school trip. We all had a great day out at Blaise Castle. Whilst we were travelling back to the coach walking along together, another visitor to the park said: “Look at those children, aren’t they well behaved keeping in their line” The coach driver, on arriving back at school said “I wish all the children were as quiet as that.”

Year 2 Visit to Weston-super-Mare
On Wednesday, 29th June, Year 2 visited Weston-super-Mare. The weather stayed dry and everyone, children and adults had a wonderful time.

Weston

The following report was written by Luke in W2
“First we sat with our excited partners on the shiny coach, me and my partner played eye-spy. When we got off we went into the Sea Aquarium, we saw catfish and stingrays, dragon fish, lobsters and starfish.
When that was finished we had lunch on the long balcony. I kept looking at the yellow beach. After we had a sandcastle competition. It was very good fun, I kept finding nice shiny blue stones. My team won the sandcastle competition. Everyone on my team cheered, the prize was a curly wurly.”

Year 4 Visit to Fernhill Farm

Fernhill FarmLast Wednesday year 4 went on a trip to Fernhill farm in Compton Martin. When we arrived on the coach we had a warm welcome from Polo the farm dog. We gathered in the barn and were introduced to Helen (Ugandan farmer) and Andy and Jen (UK farmers).

Helen explained to us what life in Uganda is like, how the children work before they go to school by taking care of the farm, animals and walk to collect water. Helen told us about her farm in Uganda and Charity her cow which was given to her from send a cow. She taught us some African greetings like, Yoga which means hello and to reply you would say Yoga Noi.

We were in three groups – Some walked around the farm and met pigs and sheep (the lambs were so cute!) Andy showed us what his life is like as a Sheppard and a UK farmer. Another group made Tip taps and clay ovens, which are amazing inventions to help them in Uganda. The third group made keyhole gardens (they look like a keyhole from a birds eye view) and bag gardens, which we have also made in school.

All of us were together for lunch in the barn, which was beautiful with natural materials like wooden beams and sheep wool rugs (they were comfy to sit on). We had a Ugandan packed lunch with foods like, flat bread, pineapple, bananas, beans and sweetcorn. The whole day was an amazing hands on experience and we think send a cow is a fantastic charity that changes the lives of African farmers by giving them knowledge and a cow to fertilise their land.
