Lego experience in Years 4 and 5
On Wednesday 21st January Years 4 and 5 took part in the ‘Lego Experience’. Two visitors came to school and brought tons of Lego to make an eco Lego village.
We were taught how to make a basic building, including the roof structure and the brick pattern. We got into groups on mats and started to create our own buildings to add to the village. Once we had created our buildings we got creative and added extra features e.g. sheds, ponds and gardens.
Some groups made other models such as stadiums, post offices, parks and horse jumps.
We all enjoyed our experience. Here are some comments from children in Year 5: -
“It was fun working together as a team.”
“We couldn’t believe the amount of Lego.”
We learnt lots of new things and we were really proud of what we made, and it got us thinking about how we can improve our cities in the future. It was sad to break them up. Year 5 recommend this experience to other year groups.

Children in year 4 added:
It was “fun, challenging and a good puzzle” and “I enjoyed being able to make my own part of the eco-village.”
Mr Garside who ran the workshop commented, “The children in Y4/5 are a model of co-operative and creatively-inspired behaviour. The best mid-junior age group project display I’ve seen for years’. Praise indeed!
Well done all the children for participating so enthusiastically in the day.
