Eco Team

We love being ‘Green’ at Longwell Green.

Our Eco Team are made up of class representatives from Year 1 to Year 6, who are elected at the beginning of each academic year.

Together we choose three areas that we would like to improve upon each year. These have previously included: Transport, Energy, Environment, Biodiversity, Recycling and Litter.

The Eco Team work together in fortnightly meetings to create new initiatives to support the school in the journey to becoming more environmentally friendly.

Some of the successful initiatives that they have most recently implemented have been: Litter picking team, energy monitors, recycling monitors and energy award winners of the week.

Each year we have a whole week dedicated to all things ‘eco’. During this week we have encouraged walking, scooting or cycling to school with exciting incentives such as the ‘positivity pebble trail’ and ‘funky feet Friday’, where we all wore fun socks and shoes if we travelled by foot to school. We also had an inter class competition for saving energy. All organised and delivered by our excellent Eco Team.
