School Houses

The children are grouped into four houses towards the end of their reception year and they remain in this house for the duration of their time at Longwell Green. Any siblings are allocated the same house.

The houses were named by a pupil:

Griffin (Blue)
Dragon (Green)
Pegasus (White)
Phoenix (Red)

The children start reception by wearing a white PE T-shirt (see uniform list here) and then change to the coloured T-shirt for their house, once it has been allocated. These T-shirts can be bought from school for £2 each or alternatively can be bought from supermarkets.

Children can gain house points for going above and beyond in their school work or in their actions e.g. polite manners or representing our termly value. These build termly to a House reward.

We also work in house teams to compete in termly intra-school sports competitions through the year, as well as our annual sports day. This encourages team work across the school, from the youngest to eldest children and contributes to the community aspect of school.
