Art

At Longwell Green, children are given a broad, balanced and creative approach to art education, which stimulates and builds on their art skills, knowledge and understanding.

Within each of our zones, children are exposed to six different units: drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, textiles, and 3D.

Children will encounter and gain inspiration from real artists from around the world and through the ages, while they develop their own ideas considering: line, colour, shape, form, texture, balance and proportion using different resources, styles and more.

Amongst other exciting opportunities each year children will experience ‘Art Week’ where as a school we will look at a shared stimulus and create a wealth of art showing our approaches to each year’s theme.  Through such work and through art more broadly, children will experience where they will be given the opportunity to work individually and collaboratively to produce several meaningful pieces of work to ignite enthusiasm for art!
